Who is Habitat?

Habitat of Pamlico County is hundreds of people and organizations that have expressed interest in helping their neighbors in need.  We are an ecumenical, grass‑roots organization.  Our mission is a Christian one, but we welcome all who have the desire to help others to have a decent, affordable home.

Our Habitat affiliate is managed by an all‑volunteer Board of Directors and volunteer committee chairs.  Volunteers oversee our building, fundraising, homeowner relations and volunteer coordination as well as the Habitat Home Store.  Our goal is to spend less than twenty percent of revenues on our administrative costs and fundraising, even though the IRS doesn’t allow us to quantify the dollar-value of the donated time we receive from our volunteer builders.
